HES-DVM comes with included ProtoTool application, which is a program that offers instant access to the prototype running on HES that has integrated HES Prototyping Interface Module (HPIM). The tool allows reading and writing the prototype wrapper control registers and FIFO buffers. It provides an interface to connect interrupt handlers supplied as TCL procedures or command scripts. With ProtoTool application it is possible to observe and control the design in the board without developing complicated prototype control application. Special panels such as Read/Write and Interrupts tabs allow operating on HPIM registers, send or observe interrupts, and perform any functions as defined in Prototype API.
