When I first launched Aldec in 1984, home computers hadn’t quite taken off and innovations such as the compact disk and those oversized, power draining cellphones were still struggling to obtain mass acceptance.

Fast forward 30 years, even those of us in the electronics industry have whiplash from the speed at which technology is advancing and delivering new products. Buyers are more eager to become early adopters of innovative new technology, and smarter, faster tools are required to keep pace.

As a long-time member of the Electronic Design Automation (EDA) community, Aldec has had a front row seat to the technology race and over the years we have celebrated many successes of our own. Here, our product managers reflect on some of our most memorable highlights from 2013.

“We continued to enhance Riviera-PRO’s debugging tool suite with new tools for UVM-based verification environments such as class hierarchy visualization, dynamic object debugging and visualization. Riviera-PRO continues to win over new users, and will keep delivering helpful new tools like ‘UVM Graph’ in 2014.”

“Our 90’s kid Active-HDL celebrated its Sweet 16 and still continues to win awards as the popular choice for FPGA designers thanks to its global project management, powerful simulation performance, documentation and debugging tools.”

“We launched our hugely popular FastTrack™ Online training portal that allows engineers to learn at their own pace.”

“Aldec has officially emerged as a leader in DO-254, delivering unparalleled training, support and solutions. The introduction of Spec-TRACER™  requirements lifecycle management underlined our commitment to the safety-critical needs of the aviation industry.”

“ALINT truly shone this year with new enhancements and adoption by industry leaders such as Hitachi Cable and NEC Corporation as their go-to design rule checker for next generation FPGA designs.”

“Microsemi continues to recognize our RTAX/RTSX prototyping solutions for rad-tolerant devices, once again invited us to co-sponsor their prestigious Space Forum events held around the globe.”

“HES-7 SoC/ASIC prototyping, a recent addition to the HES SW/SW validation platform, continued to gain traction this year, including adoption by Kumamoto University in Japan. We added support for Xilinx Zynq and included essential SoC peripherals and will continue to deliver enhancements in response to user requests.”

While much has changed since Aldec first opened our doors in 1984, one constant is our commitment to our customers. That’s why it’s no accident that Aldec offers a comprehensive training and resource library, a thriving EDA, IP and Training Partner community, complete support for UVM, comprehensive FPGA vendor supportthe industry’s best VHDL-2008 support - and so much more. As engineering teams continue to explore new technology and deliver the products of the future, Aldec remains committed to supporting them with the highest level of responsiveness and support.

Born in Poland, Dr. Hyduke received his Master of Science in Telecommunications Degree in 1962 from Technical University of Wroclaw, Poland and obtained his Doctorate from Kharkov Technical University in Ukraine. Dr. Hyduke held positions at EDO Commercial Corporation, Control Data and Oki Data Corporation before launching the Automated Logic Design Company (Aldec) in 1984. Dr. Hyduke, together with Aldec Research and Development team members, currently holds eight patents in electronic design technology.
